MAXIMISING ATTENDANCE
We work closely with parents/carers and partner agencies to support good attendance at school. Pupils learn best in class with subject specialists teaching the curriculum and our aim is to maximise pupil attendance in timetabled classes. We know there are pupils for whom school attendance is difficult and our aim is always to ensure that we work together to address barriers, have support in place and help our pupils achieve.
Attendance is supported in school by daily contact with Register teachers, weekly input from Guidance teachers and planning with Stage Heads where appropriate. We also have Family Liaison Officers working in our Den who support families and pupils when things are hard.
In terms of families, the best way we can support you is if we all work together:
Please tell us if there is something wrong. Your first point of call is your child's Guidance teacher and there is a link below.
If your child is not going to be in school please call and let us know.
If/when you do call let the office staff know when you anticipate your child will return to school. If you do not know please call every day.
If your child is absent from school and we have not heard from you we will be in touch - please respond to this message.
We all have responsibility in terms of maximising pupil attendance. The Authority has updated its guidance on Maximising Attendance and our in house policy is linked below. Importantly though, any questions please ask.
