Learning for life

LEARNING

Learning is our purpose and our passion – everything we do has the ultimate aim of improving the learning experience of our pupils and we believe in the intrinsic value of education. We want to create classrooms which are relaxed, calm and quiet. Best use will be made of resources to deliver lessons which are stimulating, challenging and enjoyable. We will invest in developing the skills and knowledge of our teachers to promote the highest possible standards of teaching and learning.

ASPIRATION

We want the best future for every child and desire to instil self-motivation and ambition through setting high expectations of performance and behaviour. Compliance with basic school rules is essential for creating an ethos of achievement and our expectations extend to the wearing of full school uniform at all times. Pupils will be encouraged to strive for personal excellence in their learning and will be equipped with the knowledge required to make informed choices about their life beyond school.

EMPOWERMENT

The empowerment of the individual child is our goal. This is a holistic aim, the elements of which are a combination of curricular and extra-curricular activities, nurture, relationships and expectation. We want our pupils to take personal responsibility for their progress and learning; we want them to develop a solution-focused approach to problems; and we want them to build the resilience to deal with disappointment in a positive and constructive way.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING

The physical and mental health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff must be nurtured. It is a key element of our vision and is essential in supporting the whole process of learning and teaching. Healthy pupils are happy and learn better; healthy staff have the positivity and energy to deliver excellent learning.

PARTNERSHIP

The partnership between home and school is crucial to effective learning. We aim to work together with parents in an atmosphere of mutual trust to create strong, independent pupils. We value open and honest communication and recognise the importance of listening.

We are committed to developing further a range of partnerships with associated schools, other agencies and employers to provide opportunities for achievement and positive destinations for all pupils.

DIVERSITY

We want our pupils to learn and develop compassion and empathy for others. We recognise and celebrate the differences that make us human and want to have a fully inclusive school which welcomes people of all ages, abilities, ethnicities, beliefs and genders. We have zero tolerance of any form of bullying or harassment based on race, disability, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation.

SUSTAINABILITY

Our pupils need to learn to be citizens of the world and to be aware that they are custodians of our global destiny. We will promote social equity, democracy and environmental awareness, encouraging our pupils to take action to support a fairer society and to respect the rights of others.
