Generally speaking we tell families that their child's Guidance teacher should be their first point of contact. The Guidance teacher is the person who has the 'whole picture' - they are the team that collects information at the point of moving to High School from Primary, they see pupils weekly in PSE classes, monitor attendance and liaise with families to maximise it. Guidance teachers provide pastoral support, work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure  pupil needs are met and pupils achieve and then work with students on references and applications as they prepare for their next steps beyond school.
