Primary Parent Teacher Association/Parent Council

Who’s on the PTA?

Any parent or teacher of the school can become a member. We have a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary/Minute Secretary. We also have sub-committees when organising larger events. You don’t need to be an Office Bearer to make a difference – we always need someone to help out at some event or another. The more people that help the less work there is.

Why join?

It allows you to be more involved in the life of the school. It’s a great way to meet other parents and to meet the teachers on a less formal basis. We all want our school to be the best it can be and the PTA/PC helps towards this in lots of ways. It’s not just about fundraising – although that is a major part of what we do. You don’t need to have any special skills, everyone can help in some way. Whatever your reason for coming along we are certainly glad of your help and hope you’ll enjoy it.

Meetings

Meetings of the Parent Council/PTA will take place bimonthly and at the moment are taking place via Google Meet.

If you would like to attend a meeting please get in touch via the school office.

Discos

Outwith Covid restrictions the PTA/PC usually run 3 discos throughout the year – Back to School, Hallowe’en and New Year. These are a very easy fundraiser which is very well supported by the children and we usually make about £400 at each disco. We need people to help set up, clear away and serve the water, crisps and sweets. We all take it in turns to buy the items for the tuck shop.

Book Fair

In a normal school year the school invite Scholastic Books into the school twice a year and each class gets the opportunity to buy a book. The school receives commission for all books sold and are then able to use this against book purchases for the school. PTA/PC members assist with the selling of the books and also help the younger children choose their books.

Sports Day

Volunteers are always needed to help out by giving out the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cards at the end of each race and by holding the finishing tape! There is always something to be done, including running in the parents' race!
