January 2021

We may be in lockdown 2.0 but the world is still turning and our pupils are still achieving!

Carla Todd

Carla decided to run 50 miles in January for children’s mental health. Carla says she “decided to carry out this challenge to raise money for the worthwhile charity ‘Place2be’ for children’s mental health”. As well as already raising her pledged amount, Carla has been very determined, completed her 50 miles and in the process raised just under £300. Well done Carla!

Place2be are a charity focused  on raising awareness of children and young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. The charity is encouraging people to run 50 miles in January or February to raise money for counselling sessions for those needing them. What is great about something like this, the exercise is also beneficial for your own personal mental health and well-being. Mirrin, Neve and Ethan Bowden

Mirrin (S1),Neve (P6) and Ethan (P4) have all had their running shoes on too! The three siblings have been pulling together, alongside their mum, to support their auntie (from a distance) who is training to run a half marathon later this year. To support their auntie, they are taking part in the Couch to 5K programme and are currently half way through and doing really well.

The Couch to5K programme is a great way to get yourself and your family moving during lockdown 2.0 and is even recommended by the NHS! If you would like to have a look, more information can be found here; https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/get-running-with-couch-to-5k/

Campus Litter Pick

Another group of people keeping busy through January have been the children attending the Hub in the school.

The children have been picking the litter in the area around the school, specifically the path up to Kilmory and behind the fences. They have done an excellent job and have proven to be less squeamish than the adults helping them!

Well done to them taking up, what is possibly not the nicest, of jobs.
