THE DEN

THE DEN

We opened our Den at the start of 2023 as a whole campus initiative to provide a safe, nurturing space for pupils of all ages. Staffed by our Family Liaison Officers the purpose of the Den is to support pupils and families. There are a range of things going on from the Breakfast Club to a Soft Start Registration group, we have individual and small group tutorials, a Ukrainian Support group, Young Carers initiatives, drop in sessions from partners in School Counselling, CAMHS and Young Carers (MAYDS), Seasons for Growth sessions and Nurture groups. Pupils who are perhaps feeling overwhelmed, need time to re-regulate and get back to their day or would simply benefit from someone to talk to are all able to access the space and many are issued with a 'Take a Breath' card enabling them to come to the Den when they need it.

The Den staff support school attendance and help families by providing support and advice and signposting to further help.  Future plans include a Homework Hub and sessions to help parents/carers support their children with their learning.

In a recent evaluation the Den was referred to as the 'Room of Requirement'. We love that and we love that so many of our pupils are able to point to the Den as a safe place that has really made a difference.

One of our partners with whom we work closely is the Exchange Counselling service. We can refer pupils for school counselling or pupils and/or their families can refer - information can be found below.
